Every road is only as good as the strength of its bridges.
The Government of Malawi is strengthening the 55-kilometer Nsipe–Liwonde Road through the construction of four concrete bridges under the ongoing road rehabilitation project.
A major highlight is the road-over-rail bridge at Balaka, which will help eliminate the existing conflict between road and railway traffic, improving safety and easing movement along the corridor.
The other bridges, together with circular and box culverts, will strengthen the road’s drainage system, protect it from water-related damage, and ensure safe, reliable, year-round connectivity.
Stronger bridges. Better roads. Safer journeys. Stronger communities.
